Create a typebook by using colorless photos, combined with original content, and incorporated text directly onto the images. The typebook is designed to tell a story through both visuals and typography.

I decided to create a typebook about my experience living in Medicine Hat, documenting my thoughts about this small city and the people who lives here. I chose to focus on this city because it is the smallest city I have ever lived, and I wanted to preserve my memories and reflections.

At first, I wasn’t sure how to start this project, so just began by photographing the places I often visit, the stores I had never been to.

The reason of Including photos of stores I had never entered as a reminder that there is still so much I haven’t explored. It also reflects the challenge to me of finding someone to hang out with and explore new places on weekends in Medicine Hat.

Next, I started editing the photos in Photoshop to make them colorless and added text, making it appear as though the text was part of the original photos when I took them.

Then, I experimented with the layout to arrange the photos in an organized way. I used a Japanese magazine called *Idea 401* as a layout reference because I really liked the style they used in their books.

Once the images were in place, I began writing my thoughts about the city and the scenes depicted in the photos on each page.

This is the overall looking of my typebook.

This project is meaningful to me because it helps preserve my memories of this city, the experiences I had, and the people I met in Medicine Hat.
